Seminar on Ensuring Support for Survivors of Rape and Sexual Abuse

ENSURING SUPPORT FOR SURVIVORS OF RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE: EVERYONE IS NEEDED

Trust House Reading, The Survivors Trust and Holy Brook Associates present a seminar to share best practice, discuss good practice and consider we can work together to ensure support for survivors.

30th November 2016

Time: 9.30am – 4pm

At a time of austerity, a new Prime Minister and political uncertainty following the European referendum, it is vital that we keep the focus on the best local approaches to supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse.  Join national figures and local experts in discussing how we can work together to deliver this.
We’ll hear from key speakers and collaborate using the tried and tested approach of workshops and discussion and by using new online collaboration tools and social media to make this event accessible to as many people as possible.

Speakers will include

  • Faye Maxted, OBE, Chief Executive of the Survivors Trust
  • DCI Justin Fletcher, Detective Chief Inspector, Crime & PVP Strategy, Thames Valley Police
  • Dr Jennifer Wallis, Lead Specialist CAMH – Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust
  • Wendy Walker, Policy Development Officer – Partnerships & Commissioning, Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley
  • Rebecca Flynn, Service Manager, Safeguarding Adults Team (SAT)

What you will get from attending this seminar:

  • A broader understanding and perspectives about improving support for survivors of rape and sexual abuse gained from the speakers and your fellow delegates
  • Practical ideas to implement and share with your colleagues
  • Facilitated networking opportunities with your fellow participants
  • Access to an online collaboration forum, both before and after the event, to further develop ideas and connections
  • Post-event report that summarises presentations, key discussion themes and any specific outputs agreed on the day.
